Another weekend quickly passes by... A little thunderstorm Saturday evening should help things grow; although even without it there must have been some moisture in the soil as the sweet corn, squash and pumpkins we planted on May 29th had already germinated and started to emerge. This rain should give the whole garden a boost.
We spent this afternoon today hosting a socially distancing work "party". Liz Jo, Liz and Matt, the Plank family, and came as did some of our nearby relatives: Katye, Joe, and the boys and Katye's dad, Wes. They all helped Ann and I put the horizontal rails in the fence across the road. Three teams installing, a team hauling rails, and one cutting and notching rails made an impressive and productive crew.
Writing about our day to day activities on the farm does seem somewhat insignificant in light of the unsettled world we're living in just now. There are many facets to everyone's life and along with the routine day to day farm happenings you're reading about, we're also trying to listen, learn, and take action on some of the on-going issues that have recently become more prominent in society.
