Biggest accomplishment of the day was getting the lambs neutered. Our friend, Leslie, who used to be a vet tech, helped vaccinate them for tetanus and chlostridium and castrate the males. Nine of the 14 were rams so if things balance out I should have lots of female lambs next year. It's a pretty simple operation when the lambs are 2-3 weeks old like this. Hardly any blood and seemingly little discomfort. Good to have that job done because ram lambs can reach sexual maturity at 4 months old and we don't want lambs born in the middle of the winter...
Have a nice Memorial Day weekend everyone!
First photo: I don't know if they smelled the freshly cut hay at the neighbor's, were waiting for Tracy to come give them apples, or what; but the horses spent much of the day standing at the gate just watching...
Second photo: I'm using temporary electric fence netting powered by a solar charger and the sheep to clear where some of the new fence is going.
