Remember when we used to be able to do things like travel? Even to far away places? I think those days will come again, in some form or another, but my photo of the tulip below brings back special memories from the Rhine riverboat cruise Ann and I took last fall to Europe.
The tulip pictured is from one of the bulbs we brought back from the floating flower market in Amsterdam as souvenirs. Our city tour guide discouraged us from buying any, "You'd pay about the same price for the ones you buy in the states when you get home and they'd be the newest production. Plus, you'll have to carry these with you for the entire duration of the trip and then include them as part of your luggage to take them home."
We bought some anyway, and did manage to stash them in our boat cabin and lug them through the airport. We didn't need more trinkets, we decided. We planted some around our outdoor patio deck and gave the rest away as gifts. This is the first to bloom and reminds us of the fun journey we had together on the cruise and biking through the countryside and quaint villages of Germany and France. I'm glad we didn't listen to the tour guide's advice on this one.
